June 03 WEDDING STORY: ANDY & YIYUMonday...Tuesday...It's been 2 days since their wedding, yet I am still all excited every time I look at their photos. All the photos were captured in particular sequence, highlighting their sweet wedding, from the moment the bride arrives at St Matthew... Yiyu was in the middle of getting her gown organised, ready to leave a lasting impression to the husband and all the guests.
Andy and Yiyu were holding each other's hands.
Andy must have waited for this moment for a long time.
Yiyu was having fun playing with her beautiful gown. I am really glad that I captured an entire series of these movements.
The couple was welcomed by fresh flowers as soon as they came out from the church.
After the ceremony, all the guests were invited to an amazing party...on water. If was of course my first time to witness a wedding celebration on the boat. A lovely cake decorated with lilies, just as the one Yiyu was holding.
Look they were truly entertained...; )
So they entertained us with a short kareoke session...
The first dance...
Though it was a really busy day for the Andy and Yiyu, I managed to get hold of them for some valuable private shooting. I guess for them photography is a passion, a career and a lifestyle.
I've also put together a slideshow to highlight their wedding day.

June 01 ANDY & YIYUI remember I mentioned before that I had
never been to a wedding ceremony, not until I attended Tim & Lou's
wedding in 2007. In the past one year I had more and more opportunities
being invited as a guest to attend my friends' wedding ceremonies. But something was different today: I am the chief photographer for Andy & Yiyu's (also known as ANYI IMAGE) big wedding day! There's
just so much to tell about their big day and I feel blessed as I am
able to use every frame I have captured to tell their wedding story.
More will be coming soon... : )
May 28 TIM & LOUISAIt was a perfect Saturday, landed on the beautiful Waiheke Island, I was excited because it was my very first time being invited to a wedding since I had been in New Zealand. Although more than 2 years have past, the scene where Louisa was arm-in-arm with her dad, stepping towards the guests was still vivid. It was merely a fluke that I accidentally discovered these valuable photos I took a long while ago. They were under my "To be edited" folder, along with many many other folders! Thanks to my flatmate Ray or else these photos would just stay unprocessed forever. I scanned through the entire folder and chose to upload these few shots. Now I look back and I see most of the keepers were taken by my old 50mm F1.8 (non D), one of my cheapest lens. I was not into wedding photography then. I didn't have good equipments, neither skills nor experience. I was still shooting in Auto and Aperture Priority, and I had no idea how to properly expose the leaves or people's faces the way I wanted. I am glad. Because when I saw these photos I loved them and I know I will continue loving them - because it's about them. It's about Tim and Lou entering a new chapter of life to which God has called. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() May 21 THE BELATED SING SING - AUCKLAND FESTIVAL 2009 PHOTOSOnce again I dug out some photos I took during the Auckland Festival back in March. The council set up a stage right across the Queen Street next to the Aotea Square. The the dusk hit, the stage was surrounded by spectators. "Sing Sing honours the songlines of Oceania. It celebrates the links between diverse yet connected nations as "one saltwater people" and brings together the region's most significant singers, musicians and dancers. Sing Sing is a concert that interweaves a dynamic mix of traditional and contemporary musical forms from downbeat acoustic soul to tear-jerking ballads. International Sing Sing performers are joined for this event by Maori and Pacific Island artists for a journey through the landscape and texture of urban and village life. Accompanying projections and aural soundscapes add to the spectacle and capture a sense of place. The concert is an exhilarating wall of sound with pulsating slit log drumming, dynamic walls of choral vocals and sublime world fusion grooves." - Auckland Festival 2009 The concert was such a passionate celebration. Sing, sing for freedom; dance, dance for liberty.
May 14 DEALING WITH HARD DISK EXPLOSIONSlowly I have finished editing, uploading the ever accumulating photos that rapidly consumes my hard disk space at an unpredictable rate. I am now using 2 external hard disk just to ease the situation a little bit on my MBP. I have yet to purchase an 1TB external disk but I guess it won't be too long till I realise the absolute necessity of having one. AHHHH... The following photos were taken within few days after we came back from Aussie. It was one afternoon when we could enjoy ourselves at once again Gloria Jean, but not because they make nice coffee but because Borders is one of our favorite spots. The Gloria Jean in Sydney somehow tasted better. I still have some photos I took in Sydney I would like to upload, but I will do that another time.
The sun makes this winter so much warmer.
That evening they laid red carpet and set up very cool lights and torches at Aotea Square. We of course went and snapped a few photos.
